19 April - AGM and Winning Films
Chesterfield Film Makers held their Annual General Meeting chaired by Life President, Cliff Paulson, when they met at Walton Village Centre. The retiring Chairman, Doreen Williamson, reported on another successful year before handing over the reins to Colin Guest, Chairman for 2016/17. Officers elected for that year were Secretary, Les Lewis; Treasurer, David Oldale; Equipment Officer, John Fox and Cliff Paulson was elected to the position of Vice Chairman in anticipation of him chairing the club during 2017 when it celebrates its Diamond Anniversary. Joining Keith Slaughter on the committee are Larry Hall and John Hickinbotham. During the summer, members will enjoy a few social gatherings before the new season starts on 13th September.

Chesterfield Film Makers met at Walton Village Centre for one of their regular programme events where members present short films they have made which are based on a theme given by the Chairman. This year the theme is 'Recreation' and six members' films resulted in a varied programme, each one reflecting the theme in different ways. Members taking part included David Oldale, John Fox, Doreen Williamson, Larry Hall, Colin Guest and Fabio Bezoari. Chairman, Doren Williamson, gave details of the end of season dinner and thanked all who had contributed to an enjoyable evening.

22 March - An Evening with Larry
It was member, Larry Hall's, evening when Chesterfield Film Makers met at Walton Village Centre. Larry presented his national award winning film 'Energy Crisis' and went on to present a film illustrating how he had made this animated production, taking a year in the making. He concluded his programme with his films 'Night Rider' and 'Das Kabarett'.
16 March (Wednesday) - South Yorkshire Competition
Chesterfield Film Makers had competed against Doncaster Movie Makers, Huddersfield Film Makers and Sheffield Movie Makers in the annual South Yorkshire Competition hosted this year by the Sheffield club. Larry's film 'Das Kabarett' had been awarded the Highly Commended Goblet as runner up to a film made by Huddersfield Movie Makers. Sheffield Movie Makers won the award for best programme.

Les Lewis entertained fellow members with eleven short films he had made during his involvement in the hobby and he was thanked by Vice Chairman, Colin Guest.
Each year a silver salver is presented in memory of Kath Calow for the film voted by members to have the best narrative structure. By coincidence, on Les Lewis's evening, Malcolm Calow announced that Les was this year's winner with his film 'Galapagos'.

1 March - A/V and One Minute Competition
It was competition night when members of Chesterfield Film Makers met at Walton Village Centre. The judge, Peter Corderey of Bolsover Camera Club, made constructive comments after viewing a number of one minute films followed by some AV presentations. Those entering included Bob and Doreen Williamson, John Fox, Roger Barnes, Malcolm Calow, Fabio Bezoari, Colin Guest and Les Lewis. Peter had difficulty in separating the one minute films but decided that John Fox was the winner. The winner of the AV competition was Colin Guest.
23 February - Making the A6 Film
Chesterfield Film Maker's Equipment Officer, John Fox, was the presenter when the club met at Walton Village Centre. As editor of the recent club film of places of interest on the A6 between Belper and Buxton he illustrated how he had overcome various difficulties in the editing process. It proved to be a most interesting and instructive evening and John was thanked by the club's Vice Chairman, Colin Guest.

Chesterfield Film Makers welcomed one of the leading lights in amateur film making in the UK, Jill Lampert, to their meeting at Walton Village Centre. Jill gave an illustrated presentation on storytelling with impulse footage. Members appreciated how they often take film on impulse and Jill gave excellent guidance on how to use that film within a meaningful story which may be fictional or a documentary. Her talk included a lot of audience participation and Jill was thanked by Vice Chairman, Colin Guest.

Two members of Sheffield Movie Makers judged the competition and awarded the trophy to Bob Willamson for his film entitled 'Crich Tramway Village'. The club meet on Tuesday evenings and always welcome anyone interested in making films.

Two members of Chesterfield Film Makers entertained their club when they met at Walton Village Centre. Roger Barnes gave a power point presentation incorporating photographs of Chesterfield landmarks in times gone by with recent shots of natural history subjects. After the interval, Fabio Bezoari showed three films including two he had made with his son covering the history of Auschwitz camp and the canyons and National Parks of Utah. The presenters were thanked by Chairman, Doreen Williamson who appealed to members to volunteer for vacant officer and committee positions.

There was a good response with only time for a selection of films to be shown. Those contributing included Colin Guest, Geoff Burton, Doreen Williamson, John Fox, Larry Hall, Fabio Bezoari, Malcolm Calow, Cliff Paulson and Bob Williamson. The announcement that Larry Hall's film 'Energy Crisis', which won the North v South competition, had also been placed second in the CEMRIAC competition was greeted with applause.

8 December 2015 - Ian Webb - Mountain Photography
Members were entertained by Ian Webb who gave an illustrated talk on many of his photographic adventures including mounting climbing. He was thanked by Chairman, Doreen Williamson. The Club are now enjoying their Christmas break and their meetings will restart on 12th January.

8 December - North v South annual national film competition
Chesterfield Film Makers are pleased to report that for the third year running they have won the North v South annual national film competition. This year's winning film was made by member Larry Hall. The announcement was greeted with applause when the club met recently at Walton Village Centre.

There were eight entries this year including short films made by Cliff Paulson, John Fox, Doreen and Bob Williamson, Les Lewis, Frank Rehling, Colin Guest and David Oldale. As is the tradition with this competition, the judge is the previous year's winner so member Fabio Bezoari commented on all the films before awarding the Ron & Lilian Johnson Trophy to Bob and Doreen Williamson for the film 'Iona'

The seven members entering films on any subject were Cliff Paulson, Colin Guest, Les Lewis, Bob and Doreen Williamson, Larry Hall, Fabio Bezoari and John Fox. The judge, past member Michael Stainer, commented on each film and said what an excellent and varied collection of films he had been asked to judge. He awarded the trophy to Fabio Bezoari for his film 'Saguaro' which are unusual cactus plants found in the Sonoran desert in Arizona.

WINNERS Members of Chesterfield Film Makers travelled to Doncaster to compete in the annual 'Tricalvention' competition against the movie makers from Sheffield and Doncaster. At the end of the evening their programme was considered the best and they came away with a certificate to prove it. Their two films were 'Galapagos' by Les Lewis and 'I can Remember 2' by David Oldale.

13 October - Grandma's Picture Show - Brian Davis
Members of Chesterfield Film Makers welcomed Brian Davis of Chesterfield Photographic Society to a recent meeting at Walton Village Centre. Brian had brought along magic lantern equipment dating back over 100 years together with even older photographic plates which he presented under the title of 'Grandma's Picture Show' . Vice Chairman Colin Guest thanked Brian for a most enjoyable and fascinating look back at the origins of moving pictures

Chesterfield Film Makers welcomed Steve Williams of Chesterfield Photographic Society to their meeting at Walton Village Centre. Steve not only judged the Film Makers annual Natural History Competition but also gave an excellent presentation of his own photographs of living creatures. There were eight entries for the film competition with a film by Les Lewis entitled 'Galapagos' awarded the winning trophy. Other film makers contributing were Stuart Daffin, John Fox, Larry Hall, Colin Guest, Malcolm Calow, David Oldale and Doreen Williamson. At the previous meeting the Film Makers had greeted visitors from Sheffield Movie Makers who presented a selection of their films. The home club then showed their recently completed club film of a journey down the A6. Both meetings were chaired by Colin Guest. The Club welcome anyone interested in amateur film making and meet on Tuesdays at 7.30 for 7.45 pm.

There was a good attendance when members of Chesterfield Film Makers met at Walton Village Centre. Past member, Elin Smith, entertained with an excellent selection of Audio Visuals which included some video as well as incorporating really good still photography.
